La Universidad de Navarra crea un Máster en Banca y Regulación Financiera

The University of Navarra creates a Master's Degree in Banking and Financial Regulation.

The postgraduate program was created at partnership with BBVA, Caja Navarra, La Caixa, Banco Popular and Telefónica.

The School of Science and Business at the University of Navarra has launched a new Master's Degree Banking and Financial Regulation for recent graduates. The postgraduate program in the 2010-2011 academic year and was developed in close partnership institutions such as BBVA, Caja Navarra, Telefónica, La Caixa, and Banco Popular. The latter two will also award scholarships for the program.

The degree scroll will be taught at campus in Pamplona and at the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra by academics and professionals from different companies and institutions such as BBVA, Caja Navarra, La Caixa, Banco Popular, Moody's, the Bank of Spain, the University of Navarra and Stanford University, and the International Monetary Fund, among others.

As for the Study program, the Master's Degree will include advanced statistical and econometric subjects applied to the banking business, advanced bank accounting, corporate finance, risks and banking business, programming in SAS (Statistical Analysis Systems), tool computer science for the management of companies, or economic environment; along with a broad module of financial and accounting regulation that addresses the evolution of the regulatory framework and new perspectives such as macro-prudential analysis.

Finally, it includes another part focused on financial ethics and corporate social responsibility. The theoretical sessions will be complemented by case studies relevant to the banking world.

Future banking and new technologies

In this sense, it is the only program in this field taught jointly by professionals in the sector and academics, and which emphasizes knowledge about the banking of the future - characterized by the use of technology and the Internet - for which it will have the support of Telefónica S.A. In addition, all students will carry out an internship in one of the collaborating entities and an end of project Master's Degree .

As explained by the dean of the School of Science , Professor Reyes Calderón, "the goal this postgraduate program to train professionals for the banking industry of the 21st century—an industry that is definitively customer-focused, serving an increasingly demanding clientele that seeks trust, honesty, and efficiency. We are convinced that trust arises from the symbiosis between deep knowledge and ethics as a cross-cutting principle, as review Master's Degree’s motto: ‘Trust through Ethics and Knowledge’."
