The University of Navarra students Miriam Ibáñez (International Program in Medicine) and Andrea de los Santos (Biology + Science and Business Program) have been the first and second classified, respectively, of the awards of project "The Good Goal" of the academic center. The awards of this initiative, organized by the Chair Campus Home of Sustainability of the Bioma Institute, were presented during the closing ceremony of the I congress international sustainability Tell-Us Summit, in which 200 students of the academic center participated.

The contest, aimed at students, researchers and university staff , consisted of responding to challenges on emissions reduction and sustainable habits in the university community, launched from the application "The Good Goal". This application aims to help companies reduce their environmental impact through a series of gamified challenges and the calculation of water, waste and CO2 savings.

In addition to the two individual awards, Noa Marcos (School of Law), Zaira González Moncada (School of Sciences), Inés Rayo (School of Law), Arantxa Zornoza (School of Sciences) and Miriam Ibáñez (School of Medicine) received the award for the best participating team.

This pilot project , promoted by the Biodiversity and Environment Institute-BIOMA of the University of Navarra and business Campus Home, aims to collect data to analyze and measure sustainability actions at campus. The app "The Good Goal" has a positive impact calculator based on meta-studies of the academic community and allows to know the savings of CO2, water and waste generated by users with their actions

The initiative was carried out over five weeks with the active participation of more than seventy people. By completing the different challenges, these people have achieved savings of 7,022 kg of CO2 (the equivalent of 41 trees absorbing CO2 for a year), 16,858 liters of water (equivalent to three flights from Madrid to New York), and have avoided the generation of 267 kilos of waste (equivalent to lighting the Eiffel Tower for 94 days). These results demonstrate the real and tangible impact of these actions in conserving resources and mitigating the carbon footprint.

The submission awards ceremony served to close the first edition of the congress Tell Us Summit of the University of Navarra, promoted by the students of the Sustainability Club of the academic center. The event counted with the support of sponsorship and partnership of Abya, Campus Home, Biodiversity and Environment Institute Bioma, the Museum and Master's Degree of Sustainability of the University.
