More than 400 linguists from 21 countries participate in the XI International Conference on General Linguistics congress

Organized by the ICS and the School of Philosophy y Letras, it addresses topics such as technology and linguistics, children's language, humor and experimental linguistics.

More than 400 experts from 21 countries will participate from May 21 to 23 in the XI International XI congress International Conference on General Linguistics at the University of Navarra, which is jointly organized by the project 'Public discourse' of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) and the School of Philosophy and Letters. The specialists come from more than 70 campus and institutions of Germany, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, China, Colombia, Croatia, USA, Arab Emirates, Spain, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Switzerland and Ukraine.

The activity continues the series of biennial congresses held at campus in Spain since 1994 as a space for scientific dialogue and exchange on language and languages.

It has sessions of different formats dedicated to the treatment of language in its various levels and components and from different theoretical perspectives. Some of them deal with topics such as children's language, technology and linguistics, experimental linguistics, translation and language contrast or humor.

Among the linguists taking part are Raffaele Simone, from the University Roma Tre (Italy), one of Europe's leading experts on Philosophy language and culture; and Salvador Gutiérrez, Full Professor of the University of León and member of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE).

Also, during the congress , the roundtable 'Experiences of standardization: problems and solutions (Galician, Spanish, Basque, Catalan)' will be held, moderated by Emilio Prieto de los Mozos, Full Professor of the University of Salamanca. Participants: Maria Josep Cuenca (Institut d'Estudis Catalans and Universitat de València), Francisco Fernández Rei (Real Academia Galega and Universidade de Santiago de Compostela), Salvador Gutiérrez Ordóñez (RAE) and Patxi Salaberri (Euskaltzaindia and Universidad Pública de Navarra/Nafarroako Unibertsitate Publikoa).
