Nearly 80 students from different countries attending ILCE summer programs meet in Pamplona

About 80 students of Spanish from Rice University, Michigan University, Scraton University (USA), Centennial College in Canada and the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, among others, have gathered at workshop of the high school of language and Spanish Culture (ILCE) of the University of Navarra.

As it has done every summer for the past 50 years, this high school organizes intensive courses of between three and six weeks in which foreign students improve their Spanish knowledge , combining classes and other co-curricular activities that bring them closer to the culture. In this edition, the students have been divided into seven groups, corresponding to different levels of knowledge of language; one of them of Spanish for specific purposes at area medical.

On the workshop, the students, of American, Indian, Russian, Chinese, Swedish or Congolese origin, have had a meeting with the Vice President of International Office of the University.

The teaching of Spanish

After this activity, and in the framework of the 50th anniversary of ILCE, the professor of the University of Oxford Javier Muñoz-Basols, president of the association for the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language language (ASELE), has given a lecture in which he spoke about the perspectives of the profession of teacher of Spanish as a foreign language or second language language language , following a research carried out with participants from 84 countries of the 5 continents.

The meeting took place at Central Building of the University of Navarra starting at 10.30 a.m.
