A graduate of the University of Navarra receives a L'Oréal-Unesco scholarship
The pharmacist Mónica García Alloza focuses her research on the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
Mónica García Alloza, graduate and award extraordinary doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Navarra, has obtained one of the five research L'Oreal-Unesco scholarships. The program, which has received more than 200 applications in its fourth edition, seeks to promote the recognition of the role of women in science and increase the issue of scientific vocations.
The laureate focuses her research on the fight against Alzheimer's disease. Specifically, she addresses the relationship between two pathological features of the disease: senile plaques and the neurodegenerative process.
The act of submission was presided over by the director of the Women and Science Unit, Inés Sánchez de Madariaga, representing the Ministry of Science and Innovation; the general director of Programs of the Spanish Commission for UNESCO, Consuelo Vázquez; the president of L'Oréal Spain, Luis del Valle; the vice-president attachment of Scientific and Technical Areas, Juan José de Damborenea; and the president of the Scientific committee of the research L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" Awards, Margarita Salas.
