The University of Navarra organizes a congress on art and social transformation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the '72 Encounters.
The event, held on December 1 and 2, brought together artists, historians, philosophers and intellectuals from all over Spain.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the "Encuentros de Pamplona", the group of Aesthetics and Contemporary Art of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University organized the "congress of art and social transformation. Encounters of/ with avant-garde". It took place on December 1 and 2, at the classroom magna of the School of Architecture.
At the meeting, supported by the Spanish Society of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts (SEyTA), philosophers, art historians, artists and intellectuals from all over Spain discussed the past and present of art in our country and reflected on the impact of the Encounters and their influence in our days. Participatory art in the Spanish context; aesthetic values and moral emotions in artistic activism; the representation of the modern urban experience; the art of power and aesthetics; photography in the problematic between reality and its representation; or the artistic internship in contexts of armed conflict, were some of the topics discussed.
The first workshop began with a discussion paper given by José Díaz Cuyás, which was titled degree scroll "Travels, images and ceilings: Willoughby Sharp in Los Encuentros". Three panels were also presented by Javier Ortiz-Echagüe, Teresa Reina, Dailey Fernández, Rosa Benéitez, Antonio Notario and Ilia Galán. The Encuentros de Pamplona brought together international experts in the fields of the arts, literature, music and Philosophy, among others, in the summer of 1972. Five decades later, this avant-garde festival is still considered one of the main art events linked to the general public that has taken place in Spain.
