Students from IES Benjamín De Tudela, Liceo Monjardín and Irabia represent Navarra in the National Biology Olympiad.

Marta Chivite, Alberto Pezonaga and Pablo Larraona were the winners of the competition organized at the University of Navarra.

Marta Chivite from IES Benjamín de Tudela, Alberto Pezonaga from Liceo Monjardín and Pablo Larraona from high school Irabia will be the representatives of Navarra in the national phase of the Biology Olympiad that will take place from March 12 to 16 in León. The three students from high school diploma obtained the best results of the total of 97 participants in the regional phase held at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra.

The students had to answer 100 questions subject test related to Biology during approximately 2 hours. Later, they attended a lecture on evolution at position by PhD student Gregorio Sanchez from department of Environmental Biology. Finally, those interested were able to visit the CIMA and the Museum of Natural Sciences of the University of Navarra.

In addition to participating in the national edition of competition, the three winners will receive recognition from the School of Sciences next Wednesday, March 4, where a special accredited specialization will also be awarded to six other winners.

4th place: María Oyón Ardoiz - IES Ribera de Arga (Peralta)

5th place: Iñigo García Erice - San Cernin (Pamplona)

6th place: Javier Jaso Echeverría - Luis Amigó (Pamplona)

7th place: Mauro Jorge Gomes Pinto - IES Benjamín de Tudela (Tudela)

8th classified: Maite Garraza Obaldia - Jesuitas (Pamplona)

9th place: Santiago Recalde Puig - Jesuitas (Pamplona)
