Two students from Degree in attendance and one from School in Economics analyze in a video the structure and evolution of the Spanish population and the importance of staying active in retirement. Sofía Cockburn (ISSA'20), Alejandro Iribas (ISSA'20) and José María Panadero (ELG'21) are the three students authors of the work "Líderes más allá de los 65" with which they participate on Saturday, March 23 in the congress FORUN 2019: Getting down to business: the transformative power of work.

The congress brings together 34 communications, including videos and written papers, and another 20 groups of discussion. Their work, directed by the Degree professor at attendance de Dirección, Ana María Fernández, is one of the 16 videos presented. "Working in group has been one of the best things about FORUN. In the process of realization we have been contributing our point of view and we have had very interesting debates," says Alejandro Iribas.

The video, after a brief introduction in figures about the aging of the Spanish population and the problem we face, presents through an animated story of how the retirement period has to be a period full of hope, where the meaning of life, based on the work for the community, still has a place and continues to give meaning to the daily lives of people -whether retired or not. "However, as happens on many occasions, that thought clashes with reality. You are really happy when you are active and mentally exercised," says Iribas.

After the hours they have invested and shared, they explain that what they liked most about FORUN was having the opportunity to analyze and reflect on current and interesting topics: "In day-to-day life there is often no time to consider these issues and, without a doubt, FORUN is a great opportunity to do so. In addition, having Ana María Fernández's committee has been one of the keys for the experience to be so good".

For Sofía and Alejandro, this is their first experience in FORUN and, without a doubt, "it was worth it". In the case of José María, it is his second experience. Last year he participated in the modality discussion . For him, "FORUN provides an excellent opportunity for university students to develop the necessary skills for the professional world and apply them to topics of great interest and current affairs". And he considers that "this forum provides experiences that foster growth staff, contributing to the development of well-trained leaders".
