The students of the School of Architecture (ETSA) of the University of Navarra (ETSA) of the University of Navarra are those who most value the training they receive, according to a national study carried out by the Caja de Arquitectos Foundation. The survey, which gathers the opinion of 1,490 Architecture students from 11 Spanish schools, has as goal analyze their opinion about the profession, their future expectations and their training. On this last aspect, the Pamplona school obtained the best score (6.83), followed by the ETSA in Madrid (5.96) and the Vallés school (5.92), which belongs to the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

In the study, students were asked to rate a series of concepts related to the teaching they receive: programs of study, faculty preparation, faculty dedication, resources and means. The University of Navarra obtained the highest scores in all sections: faculty preparation (7.23 vs. a grade average of 6), faculty dedication (6.84 vs. 5), programs of study (6.67 vs. 6) and resources and means of the School (6.60 vs. 4).

The highest rate of students passing a course per year

Furthermore, according to this work, the University of Navarra is the one with the lowest rate of students who do not pass a course per year: 51.7% of those surveyed, compared to 70% at the national level. The research indicates that the students of this School only accumulate a delay of one year throughout the degree program, compared to a average of almost three years in the centers of all Spain. Perhaps for this reason, they are the youngest, with an average of 23 years.

On the other hand, work indicates that 53% of the students at this school are female students and 47% are male students. Compared to the last data, in 1998, it is one of the centers where the percentage of women in the classroom has changed the most (from 40% to 53%).

In the 11 schools involved in the survey the Architecture students seem to agree that, once they have finished their degree program, they will work in an outside studio (48% of the cases) or go abroad (46.5%). They also consider as an option to establish a studio with colleagues (46.5%) or fill in their training by doing a postgraduate program or a doctorate (31%). Finally, the option of working in a business related to Architecture appears (20%). Practically no one seems interested in setting up a solo practice (8%) or taking a competitive examination (6%). Likewise, according to the study, the area of the profession that raises more interest, according to the study, is that of projects (87%); and then construction (49%), urban planning (44%) and restoration (43%).
