On Tuesday, May 17, the closing ceremony of the second edition of the DOCENS Program for teachers took place at training of the University of Navarra.

The event began with a roundtable entitled "The life of a professor at our university: memories, ideas, experiences". The members of the roundtable were the Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering, José María Basteroformer President and Professor Emeritus of the School of Engineering, and Dr. Purificación de Castro, specialist in Neurology, who was a professor at the School of Medicine and director of the School of Nursing, with María Iraburu, Vice President of faculty, as moderator. At the end of the event, the Diplomas were submission .

During the roundtable, the speakers conveyed three fundamental ideas to the new DOCENS graduating class. The first emphasizes that the heart of the university is its professors and that they should aspire to be teachers, teachers that others (students and professors) want to imitate and not simply admire. In the current university crisis, the most important challenge is to ensure that the student not only passes through the university, but that the university passes through him. What is the way to achieve this? Treat others with affection, showing sincere concern to make them better people. By doing this on a daily basis and in all facets of professor, professors will be on the right track to make a difference.

The second idea is that those who come after them can start where they finish. This is what the previous ones did and thanks to them we are here today. It is like building a ladder, to reach the top you have to be generous and make it easier for the younger ones to also shine with their successes. Therefore, it is core topic to dedicate time to department activities, conversations with colleagues, seminars, and above all "academic leisure", and all this to live the university.  

And the third: to be very faithful to the founding principles that the first Chancellor transmitted to the pioneers. The university's purpose is to serve society, among other ways, by training people capable of motivating the necessary changes for the following generations.

The DOCENS Program has as goal to provide all teachers who join the University with the necessary training resources to exercise the teaching in the academic center. It addresses both institutional aspects, derived from the nature of the university and the characteristics of the higher Education , as well as issues related to the skills and knowledge necessary for a professor to adequately perform his or her educational task.
