"DOCENS is a slow program in which time is important for reflection to take place."
A new edition of the DOCENS Program begins at training for young teachers.
The III edition of the DOCENS Program, organized by the Vice-Rectorate for Teachers and the Core Curriculum Institute, in partnership with the Schools and Schools, was inaugurated last Tuesday 18. The Vice Rectorate of the Office of Academic Affairs and the Quality and Innovation Service are also collaborating. The Vice President of faculty, María Iraburu, and Professor Manuel Martín Algarra, Deputy Director of the ICC, took part in the event.
During her speech, Vice President explained the meaning of the program and its objectives. DOCENS is oriented to the training of young teachers and aims to create a space for dialogue where different knowledge converges. For this reason, reflection, dialogue, multidisciplinarity or self-training are the program's core topic points.
During the two years of the program, participating teachers have a mentor, an experienced teacher from their own School, who accompanies them during this period of training.
In the words of Professor Iraburu, "the Docens Program is a slow program in which time is important for reflection to take place". She also pointed out that teaching has a great transforming power, not only in the students, but also in the teacher himself.
Professor Martín Algarra explained in detail the organization of the program and pointed out that the most important aspect was the attitude and participation of the attendees.
The Docens Program has as goal to provide all new professors with the necessary training resources to exercise the teaching at the University of Navarra. In this edition, 32 professors from Schools of Architecture, Education and Psychology, Communication, Law, Economics, Nursing, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Philosophy and Letters, Tecnun, Theology and high school Core Curriculum are participating.
