Dr. Cristian Smerdou, new director of the Gene Therapy and Regulation of Gene Expression Program of the Cima
In 2000 he joined the University of Navarra as researcher, where he has developed new SFV and adenovirus vectors that have shown high antitumor efficacy in several preclinical cancer models.
Dr. Cristian Smerdou has been appointed director of the Gene Therapy and Regulation of Gene Expression Program at Cima. He replaces Dr. Gloria González-Aseguinolaza at position , who continues as deputy director of the Cima and director of laboratory of Gene Therapy of Liver Diseases.
graduate in Biological Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Biology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He did his doctoral thesis at the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología (CNB) of the CSIC in Madrid. After a brief postdoctoral period at the same laboratory (1994-1995) she moved to high school Karolinska in Stockholm (Sweden) where she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Prof. Peter Liljestrom's laboratory (1996-2000). During this period his research focused on the development and improvement of expression vectors based on Semliki Forest virus (SFV).
