The Science Museum of the University of Navarra has promoted the first two training conference , aimed at schools, to launch the international campaign Great Science Share for Schools (GSSfS) in Spain. This initiative seeks to empower children from 5 to 14 years old to communicate their science through the process of asking, investigating and sharing.
The training sessions for teachers were held on October 29 and 30 at the Sciences Building of the University of Navarra. Under the supervision of Lynne Bianchi and Grace Marson, promoters of the project in the United Kingdom, the participating teachers were trained in the approach scientific inquiry and in strategies to accompany their student body in the formulation of good questions, the collection of evidence and the communication of significant scientific conclusions.
The training provided a space for collaborative learning, true to the values of the project, where teachers shared experiences and resources to foster scientific curiosity and critical thinking in the classroom.
"With this initiative we want to foster an open and inclusive science Education , where teachers find a safe space to collaborate and students enjoy sharing their science in a fun, non-competitive environment, guided by curiosity and inquiry," says Marie-Anne Reynell, director of development at the Science Museum of the University of Navarra.
faculty mentoring and coaching by the trainers will continue until the culmination of the project in May/June, when the Great Science Share event will take place on the campus of the University of Navarra. Here students from participating schools will be able to collaboratively present and share their science.
These conference mark the starting point of the first edition of the Great Science Share in Spain, coordinated by the Science Museum of the University of Navarra, which joins an international network present in more than 40 countries.
