The new Chair purpose Business purpose promote a more humane and sustainable model

ImpactCo, MasOrange, Ferrer, Baviera, Fundación Cantabria Labs, Atresmedia, Elecnor, Iberostar, Cinfa, and Zurich Seguros support the transfer of knowledge the field of research to the business world through the University of purpose new Chair purpose Companies.

The School of Science and Business at the University of Navarra, in partnership ImpactCo— advisory service specializing in growth and social impact—is launching the Chair purpose Business to advance research purpose from an interdisciplinary perspective applied to organizational management. The Chair, born of a strategic alliance between academia and the business sector to promote a business humane and sustainable business model , was presented at the University’s Campus by its founders and participating companies.

The initiative is part of the 25-30 Strategy, under the “Meaning of work, purpose Professional Ethics” line within the Science pillar. Its activities will take place on the campus and will last for a minimum of three years. In this regard, Vice President Paloma Grau noted that the new Chair part of one of the priority research lines, in which the interdisciplinary integration of approaches to purpose , professional ethics, and the meaning of work to the training holistic growth of individuals, the development more humane organizations, and a positive and sustainable impact on society.” For his part, the Dean the School of Science Business, Antonio Moreno, also emphasized this vision, noting that “the School has been cultivating the value of human purpose in organizations for years: we understand that business is business merely a production unit, but a community of people called to generate a positive, real, and lasting impact on society.” The Faculty, in the words of its Dean, “assumes the strategic role of building bridges between academic rigor and managerial reality. We firmly believe that research has the power to profoundly transform individuals, companies, and institutions; therefore, this initiative was created to accompany organizations on the path to turning their purpose into a lived culture. The Chair our commitment to leading innovative companies that are socially committed to a more just and humane society.” 

The first companies to join the Chair purpose Businesses purpose ImpactCo, MasOrange, Atresmedia, Iberostar, Elecnor, Cinfa, Baviera, Ferrer, Fundación Cantabria Labs, and Zurich Seguros. Their participation reflects, in the words of Álvaro Lleó, director the Chair researcher of the Purpose Strength Project, “the conviction that knowledge and managerial experience are complementary and necessary to address the challenges of contemporary management .” The Chair on research within the framework this project, a university observatory that combines scientific evidence and internship experience internship develop knowledge on purpose its implementation. Since its launch in 2017, it has analyzed more than 80 organizations across 12 countries, collecting data over 30,000 employees and 5,000 executives. 

According to Álvaro Lleó, director the Chair, the initiative is based on three pillars: research, with new lines of study on the degree to which purpose is implemented purpose organizations; training, through specialized sessions and work management teams; and dissemination, through the organization of conference and the development of best-practice guides for knowledge dissemination the media and on social media.

The session, attended by some fifty participants, featured a roundtable the implementation of purpose as a strategic element in organizations. It was moderated by Ángel Bonet, president of ImpactCo, and included executives from member companies: Alberto García de los Ángeles (CEO of Elecnor), Mario Rovirosa (CEO of Ferrer), Patricia Pérez (Corporate General Manager of AtresMedia), Ana Torres (Director of Social Impact at MasOrange), Juan Matji (President of Cantabria Labs), Eduardo Baviera (CEO of Baviera), Enrique Ordieres (President of CINFA), and Santiago Insula (Director HR at Zurich Seguros).
