The 6th edition of the Chair Madera Contest kicks off.
The winner will get a scholarship to attend the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental of Buildings of the University.
The School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and Chair Madera are calling for the VI Contest Chair WoodThe contest, which rewards the project end of degree program (PFC) that best highlights the use of wood and aspects of sustainability in an architectural project .
This international competition is aimed at those who have submitted their PFC (or work equivalent) in any officially recognized School of Architecture in their home country between September 2014 and February 2018 and have been considered eligible for the degree scroll in Architecture. Projects pending grade can also be submitted to the competition provided that they attach a letter from tutor showing their conformity.
All candidates interested in applying for the competition must formalize the registration free of charge before April 6, 2018. The deadline to send online the documentation is April 20, 2018.
Two professors from the School of Architecture, along with representatives of the Chair Madera and a prestigious architect make up the jury, which will analyze the proposals and will decide the award in April. When making this decision, aspects such as quality, innovation, originality or creativity of project will be taken into account.
The award: a scholarship for the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental of BuildingsThe winner will be awarded a scholarship to attend the Master's Degree at design and management Environmental Buildings. (MDGAE), which is taught at the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. The goal of the MDGAE is to train experts in sustainability in the Building, both in the design and in the quantification of the efficiency of the measures adopted. It focuses on the management of energy and materials, environmental certification, life cycle analysis and new construction systems.
The winner of the fifth edition of this competition was Néstor Fernández Castro, from Camilo José Cela University, for the project graduate 'Museo del Inmigrante de Valparaiso'. The jury of the competition highlighted the project "the balance between urban performance and rehabilitation". Young architects from Spain, Chile, Algeria, Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru entered the competition.
