Julissa Reynoso, U.S. Ambassador: "Relations between Spain and the United States are not only an essential element of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance, they also contribute to a more hopeful future in the Americas".

The diplomat spoke at the first workshop of the North America Summit, the lecture series on the region organized by the School Law School.

"The relations between Spain and the United States are not only an essential element of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance, but also contribute to a more hopeful future in the American continent". These are the words of the U.S. Ambassador to Spain, Julissa Reynoso, during the lecture "The State of U.S.-Spain Relations", which she gave at the first workshop of the North America Summit, a series organized by the School Law School of the University of Navarra. Throughout this week, different experts will address the socioeconomic and political challenges facing the region. 

"The association between Spain and the United States includes global opportunities and challenges that we must address," the ambassador continued. "Through our association and our common vision of a democratic world with deep respect for human rights, we can prosper." During her speech, at the classroom Magna of the Central Building of the University of Navarra, Julissa Reynoso also referred to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In this regard, she thanked the leadership of Spain and the support of the Spanish government to "confront this unjustified aggression of Russia against Ukraine and help the Ukrainian people in the defense of their country".  

Julissa Reynoso was accompanied by the dean of the School Law School, Mercedes Galán, who thanked the ambassador for her availability and closeness. The dean has affirmed that this visit is especially relevant for the School. "This meeting takes place at the framework of the North America Summit, an activity aimed especially at the students of the Degrees at International Office, which contributes to their training to address their professional future in a global environment."  

Before her lecture, the ambassador was received by the president of the University of Navarra, María Iraburu, and the Vice President of Students, Rosalía Baena, in the hall of Degrees of the academic center.

The program of the North America Summit continues tomorrow with a session to be given by Carlota García Encina, senior U.S. researcher at high school Real Elcano. On Thursday, Fernando Prieto Ríos, University Secretary of the committee Spain-U.S. Foundation, will visit the university, and on Friday, José Antonio Canales, CEO of Viscofan, will close the program at conference.
