65 students from high school diploma participate in the regional phase of the International Biology Olympiad.

The School of Sciences of the University of Navarra hosts the competition in which the three students from Navarra who will go to the national phase will be selected.

The School of Sciences of the University of Navarra has hosted the regional phase of the International Biology Olympiad. A total of 65 students from high school diploma participated in the test in which the three students from Navarra who will represent the region in the national phase, which will take place in Valencia, will be classified.

The test, organized by the association Olimpiada Española de Biología (OEB), consisted of 75 questions subject test and one question development, belonging to the syllabus of first and second of high school diploma in different areas: Biochemistry , Evolution and Diversity, Cytology, Metabolism, Histology, Physiology and Anatomy Animal, Reproduction and Genetics, and Microbiology and Immunity. For this exam, students have not needed any additional preparation beyond that required for the programs of study de high school diploma or the university entrance exam.

International phases in Korea and Lima

In the national competition, to be held in Valencia between March 25 and 28, four first prizes and four second prizes will be awarded. All of them will enjoy a one-week stay at the research center Médica Aplicada (CIMA ) and at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra to prepare for the international phases.

The first four winners from each country will be part of the team that will go to the International Biology Olympiad, which will take place in Changwon City (Korea) between July 12 and 18. Likewise, the four runners-up in the national phase will participate in the IV Iberoamerican Biology Olympiad, to be held in Lima (Peru).
