Lucía Ayerra, winner of the Navarre Biology Olympiad 2024

The test was held at the University's Science School on February 10 and was attended by 85 students from 18 different schools.

Lucía Ayerra Bretos, 2nd year student of high school diploma of the high school Nuestra Señora del Huerto, has been the winner of the regional phase of the Biology Olympiad. In the test, held at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra last Saturday, February 10, 85 students from 18 schools in the region participated.

The second best result was for Lander seminar Olaizola, from high school Liceo Monjardín de Pamplona, and the third place went to Óscar Gómez de Segura Marraco, student of high school Calasanz - Escolapios Pamplona.

Likewise, students Iñigo Burguete De la Iglesia (Liceo Monjardín), Mª Isabel Mangado Del Castillo (Liceo Monjardín), Pablo Reina Carlos(Irabia-Izaga), Leire Peralta López(Sta. Teresa de Jesús), Carlota Pilar Alfaro Mendívil(Miravalles-El Redín), Leyre Becerril Tarifa(Sta. María la Real Maristas), and Nerea Ezcurra Iriarte (Liceo Monjardín) received special mentions for their good participation.

The submission awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sciences Building of the University of Navarra and is expected to be attended by representatives of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra and the high school Official Biologists of Navarra.

The schools and institutes participating in this regional phase were San Ignacio-Jesuitas de Pamplona, Luis Amigó, IES Navarro Villoslada, Santa Teresa de Jesús, IES Sancho III El Mayor, Irabia-Izaga, IES Basoko, IES Sierra de Leyre, Liceo Monjardín, Calasanz-Escolapios, Miravalles-El Redín, IES Valle del Ebro, Santa María la Real-Maristas, Jesuitinas, IES place de la Cruz, Nuestra Señora del Huerto, Sagrado Corazón and San Cernin.

The first three classified in this regional phase will participate from April 18 to 21 in the national phase of the Biology Olympiad organized by the universities of Alicante, Valencia and Jaume I of Castellón. The students who obtain the four best positions in the national test will opt for the international test , which this year will take place in Astana (Kazakhstan) from 7 to 14 July.

On the other hand, those who place 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th in the national phase will be able to compete in the Ibero-American Biology Olympiad to be held in Cuba.
