The University of Navarra researches the optimisation of healthcare resources to improve healthcare quality

A study of the University of Navarra on 'Improving the quality of care by optimizing the use of health resources on a model forecast' has been selected by the Mapfre Foundation for the award of a financial aid to the research Ignacio H. De Larramendi 2015. The work has result chosen among more than 300 projects within the area of health promotion.

The team is formed by researchers from the School of Economics, the School of Engineering TECNUN and the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. position On behalf of the Mapfre Foundation, the follow-up will be carried out by Dr. Carmen H. de Larramendi, head of the Clinical Analysis Service of the Severo Ochoa University Hospital in Leganés, Madrid.

Improving the quality of universal healthcare is emerging as one of the great challenges for the future in modern Western societies, where access to healthcare does not represent a significant problemfor the majority of the population . This study moves in that direction, framed within the European objectives of resource optimization, sustainability and creation of employment.        

Through the use of predictive models based on big data techniques and resource planning, the project will enable the identification of proposals for optimizing the use of available resources to provide a high level of service.
