22 | 04 | 2024

24 boys and girls, accompanied by some family members, participated this Saturday in the workshop on simple machines, where they were able to learn some basic tools - such as the lever, the inclined plane, the wedge, the screw, the pulley and the wheel - that allow us to perform work with less effort and are the basis of other more complex machines.

During the workshop the attendees have been able to learn some basic physics principles behind each simple machine, and have built models using everyday materials, such as caps, tetrabriks, spoons, popsicle sticks, tweezers or rubber bands.

"Families have been able to enjoy together, and develop creativity, reasoning and work as a team," says María Olloquiegui, a worker at the Science Museum.

goal This workshop had a threefold purpose: on the one hand, to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a fun and accessible way; on the other hand, to develop skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and creativity; and finally to have a fun and enjoyable time with the family.
