The students of the Master's Degree in Biodiversity, Landscapes and Sustainable management recently visited Sturnus Control S.L., the business located in Calahorra (La Rioja) owned by Luis Lezana, Ph.D. in Biology, Adjunct Professor of Master's Degree and former student of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra.
Once there, the students, accompanied by the teachers of Master's Degree, Rafael Miranda and Enrique Baquero, got to know the modus operandi of business, specialized in the management of pest bird populations, and were able to witness the results of the raptor breeding carried out at the center for scientific purposes. The birds at the center are destined for different uses: pest control, scientific research (e.g. to improve reintroductions) and environmental Education .
The visit is part of the didactic outings programmed in the Master's Degree calendar, as a complement to the theory sessions.
