Educating through the environment

A summer course promoted by the University proposes this week outings and workshops on Education environmental issues.

The University of Navarra is hosting until August 26th a new summer course focused on the role of the environment as an element educational. The program will include talks and workshops at position by theexperts Mikel Lasarte, director of Environment of the Ilundáin Foundation, Fernando Echarri, professor of the School of Sciences of the academic center, and Xabier Esparza, biologist and ornithologist.

Open to the general public, the course will be eminently practical and participatory. "We will visit the Haritz Berri Farm School and learn firsthand how their environmental Education professionals work. We will also take part in a scientific bird banding workshop in Loza, we will carry out a storytelling workshop based on the environmental Education and we will even work on the contemplation aspect with a meditation activity with the environment in the Foz de Arbayún", explains its director, professor Fernando Echarri.

With the goal to offer a complete course also for people or professionals interested in knowing more about the environmental Education and its application possibilities, the lectures will address issues such as what is and what is the purpose of the environmental Education , why it is necessary to educate in and with the environment; as well as the challenges towards which this teaching is heading in the near future.
