An 'escape room' to pay tribute to Mendeleev and the periodic table
A summer course of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra includes among its activities an 'escape room' in a laboratory de Chemistry
Next Monday, August 26th, the Atomic Escape Room, a summer course organized by the Science Museum of the University of Navarra, will begin. The aim of goal is to bring Chemistry closer to all audiences. "We will talk about the history of the Chemistry, the periodic table, the daily Chemistry , but always in an original and very entertaining way, through games and experiments," says Cristina Sola, manager of the summer course and professor of Chemistry of the University of Navarra.
This summer course lasts four days and consists of several activities. During the first day, workshop will give some insight into the history of the Chemistry and the periodic table, and experiments that relate Chemistry to everyday life will be performed. On the second day, participants will be able to experiment with molecular cooking recipes, aroma synthesis and drug detection. The third session will be devoted to the realization by groups of the Escape Room, and the fourth session class will be devoted to unveil the enigma of the escape with the scientific explanation of the game.
In the Atomic Escape Room, all the tests have a scientific basis. "The story takes place in a pharmaceutical business , in which our escapists will have to sneak in to help their director to solve a problem, in no more than an hour," explains Dr. Sola.
150th anniversary of the periodic tableThis course is a tribute to the periodic table of the Russian scientist Dimitri Mendeleev, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. "Mendeleev's life is very interesting and has served as a guiding thread for our escape," adds Sola.
The course is aimed at all audiences who have an interest in the field of Chemistry. In previous tests have participated escapists with very different profiles, "from people away from the scientific world to doctors in Chemistry, students, workers and retirees, people who had never made an escape, to real experts with more than 15 escapes behind them," concludes Cristina Sola.
The program will be held from August 26 to 29 at the facilities of the University of Navarra and the price per person is 15 euros.
This theory course-practical is aimed at all audiences with an interest in the Chemistry and is part of the summer courses of the universities of Navarra.
