Two former students of the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra have been awarded in the first edition of the National Nursing Awards organized by the committee General Nursing. Firstly, Carmen Asiain, who graduated in Nursing in 1964, in the category of 'Professional Career' for having dedicated forty years of her professional life to being the supervisor of the Intensive Care Unit of the University of Navarra, participating in its beginnings in 1964. Clínica Universidad de NavarraShe was a member of the Intensive Care Unit, participating in its beginnings in 1968 and in the training of nurses in this field. She was associate professor at the then University School of Nursing of the University of Navarra, as well as coordinator and professor of the annual course of specialization of Nursing in Intensive Care of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. Member of the Spanish Society of Intensive Care Nursing and Coronary Units since its creation in 1979, she has worked intensely for the training of nurses, from the different positions held in its directive board .

Her research activity in the field of care is also noteworthy, being reflected in the multiple contributions (communications, papers, conferences, moderator of round tables) to national and international congresses with more than 100 publications in journals of impact, as well as books and projects of research funded.
In second place, Blanca Marín, graduated in nursing in 1980 from the University of Navarra, in the category referred to the 'Area professor'. She has dedicated thirty-four years of her professional activity to teaching, mainly at the Public University of Navarra, where she has also been director of the University School of programs of study Sanitarios for 8 years. From this position she has contributed to the development of Degree and postgraduate studies in Nursing. In addition, she has been a member of multiple commissions of the UPNA, of its committee of Government and of the Senate.

In the field researcher he has participated in 11 competitive funded research projects and in two international projects funded by the European Community. He has published 109 articles in scientific journals, one book and 16 book chapters.
Finalist position
In addition, Hildegart González, professor at School of Nursing at the University of Navarra, has been nominated in the category of 'Person outside the profession', for her contribution to the visibility of nursing. With a degree in Journalism and a PhD in Communication, she coordinates several focuses of research that have as their main goal to enhance the work of the nurse. She is currently researching to promote the social image of nurses in traditional media and social networks, analyzing the image that the Spanish press has disseminated of nursing in recent decades.
Finally, the award in this category went to actor Antonio Resines.
