The entertainment program Cab Stara fun itinerant format that combines quiz shows, celebrity interviews, humor and music, was awarded the Kino prize for best production at a gala held on Tuesday, April 25 at the University of Navarra Museum. This project added two other important awards, such as best direction and best acting, thanks to the work carried out by the host of the program, presenter Adela Úcar -known for titles such as 21 días (Cuatro)-. The Kino for best acting also went ex aequo to actor Urko Olazabal, for the role he played in the apocalyptic fiction short film Días de juicio, project , which also received the award for best sound.
The Kino for best screenplay went to the short film No Exit, a committed work of fiction about the war in Syria, shot in the Bardenas Reales, whose work in art direction was also recognized with this award.
The list of award winners was completed by the colorful animated short film Dispherent, which received the Kino for Best Original Soundtrack (BSO), and the documentary Camposanto, with awards for Best Editing and Best Cinematography. The award of the audience present at the Museum's theater went to Days of Judgment.
An Honorary Kino was also awarded to the director of Boomerang TV, Encarna Pardo, a former student of the University and executive producer of well-known Spanish prime time television titles. Her recent successes include entertainment programs such as Pekín Express, La Voz, La Voz Kids and Top Chef. This award recognizes her outstanding professional career degree program , and is a thank you for her valuable contribution professor in the classrooms of the School of Communication.
The Kino Awards were created by the department de Cultura y Comunicación Audiovisual in 1996 to recognize the creative, artistic and technical achievements of audiovisual productions made by students in their final year at degree program. The statuette bears the seal of the Navarrese artist Carlos Ciriza.
In addition, for the first time, a Junior Kino was awarded to reward the creative talent of those who feel the audiovisual vocation and have not yet reached university. In a nationwide contest for students from high school diplomathe winning short film was The Birdman, a version of a scene from the Oscar-winning film Birdman, project presented by students from high school Santo Tomás de Aquino (Dominicas) in Pamplona.
The jury of the 2017 Kino Awards is made up of nine renowned professionals from the audiovisual industry, all of them alumni from the University and prominent producers, directors, screenwriters and distributors of film and television, dedicated to both fiction, entertainment and documentary.
