Since its foundation in 1954 as the School of Nursing in the General Study of Navarra, the School has trained almost 8,000 professionals worldwide, maintaining the motto " Another way of being / Another way of doing ." In this year of celebration, it wanted to capture the history of 7 decades of a School that has been growing in research , teaching , size and internship with the merit of discussing what began to be built in 1954.
This is how Ana Choperena , dean of the School of Nursing , expressed her gratitude when opening the event: “It is a joy to celebrate with all of you so many years of history, and above all, to celebrate a community of nurses who put their entire lives into it. Being nurses takes up our entire lives.”
This message was joined by Dr. José López Guzmán , Dr. Ignacio Monreal and Dr. José Ramón Azanza , who together with Mercedes Pérez Díez del Corral , starred in a roundtable endearing. Three great teachers, who without being nurses, have left their mark on dozens of classes. "It's not just that they have been teachers, it's that they have always, always, always collaborated with the School of Nursing” Mercedes highlighted.
José López Guzmán, former Associate Dean of the School and professor of the subject of Bioethics in the Degree of Nursing, highlighted: “The nurse has a special sensitivity. Being a professor of ethics in this School It's easy because they carry it inside... it doesn't happen like that in others Schools . They have an intrinsic humanity.”
Furthermore, these characteristic traits of nursing students have been nurtured, developed, and nurtured over the years. José López Guzmán conveyed this with fantastic clarity:
"There is a lot of respect and affection. Everyone is loved and that is reflected in the teaching and in the training It has great value. The great value of these years lies in the effort to maintain our identity while advancing toward the future of the profession . But always at the service of others and of nursing, which is why they have been able to be true teachers of those who have come after them.
In turn, Dr. Monreal made report how this way of working began to take shape:
"I want to highlight the so-called pioneers. In 1978 we entered the Clinic and at that time it was impressive to see and be in the work of nurses to develop a training program, a pathway of care . Guadalupe told me this once, pathway of care. The work of the pioneers has become its own year after year in the School , that will has been followed and the School has been rejuvenated under that pioneering spirit.”
Dr. José Ramón Azanza shared that he really did not want to teach teaching , and ended up being a professor of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing, and has personally seen the seal of the School :
"Where there were people was in the infirmary, where they expressed themselves the most and were the closest. I had a lot of fun giving class in your School . And we are sure that what you sow reaps . I was admitted for 3 months and I enjoyed it staff nursing a lot, was happy there too. The seed we planted was grade , in our Clinic and in other hospitals, you recognize ours”
