First-year PPE students are traveling to Brussels and Paris to experience European politics firsthand

From May 17 to 23, first-year students in Degree Philosophy, Politics, and Economics PPE) took their annual study trip to Brussels and Paris as framework the subject Seminars I subject . This international academic experience goal students to some of Europe’s leading institutions, foster their understanding of the political and diplomatic workings of the European Union, and complement their training with meetings with professionals in these fields.
During their first workshop the Belgian capital, the students visited the European Parliament, the epicenter of discussion . They then held a meeting at the headquarters of Spain’s Permanent Representation to the European Union (REPER) meeting Juan Francisco Hernández Alfaro, advisor on Territorial Policy, General Affairs, and the European Parliament. The day concluded with a visit the headquarters of committee .
On Tuesday the 19th, our students began their workshop the European Union’s External Action Service (EEAS) to gain a deeper understanding of the role and political priorities of the EEAS and the EU’s diplomatic service. In the afternoon, at the Brussels Press Club, they attended several training sessions with professionals from a wide range of sectors. Christian D. Villanueva, director the magazine "Ejércitos," introduced them to the field of defense and the armed forces. They also held a meeting José Luis Bazán, consultant on international human rights and EU policies. Meanwhile, our alumni Jairo Ciscar, Joseba Unzaga, and Alexia Cosmelo shared their professional experiences with the students.
During their stay in Brussels, the students also visited the European Commission. Led by Miguel Puente Patisson of the General Administration Economic and Financial Affairs, they gained insight into the European Commission’s work in shaping the future of Europe. Marta Moya, from the General Administration Health and Food Safety, led a session on interinstitutional relations at the EU level.
On Thursday, once they had arrived in the French capital, they held a meeting with Alfredo Sancho, Director Education the Ministry of Education visited UNESCO. They also had the opportunity to enjoy the collections at the Musée du Quai Branly and the Louvre Museum.
