The University of Navarra celebrated the feast of St. Josemaría Escriva, founder of Opus Dei and of the academic center. Hundreds of people attended the Mass that took place in the sports center. The vicar of the delegation of Opus Dei in Navarra, Carlos García del Barrio, presided at the celebration, accompanied by priests José Manuel Giménez Amaya, Francisco Varo, Félix María Arocena and Rafael Rodríguez Ocaña.

In his homily, Carlos Garcia del Barrio referred to the feast of the Sacred Heart and urged those present to follow the example of St. Josemaría, to correspond to the love of Christ and to have God in a priority place in our lives.

He also encouraged the attendees to "be sowers of peace and joy" in their daily environments: in their homes, their work, in their relationships with others.

50th anniversary of St. Josemaría's death

The celebration coincided with the 50th anniversary of St. Josemaría's death in 1975 in Rome. For this reason, the Center for the programs of study Josemaría Escrivá has published a special section on the web page on the history of Opus Dei.

The section"Learn more about Josemaría Escrivá" includes an interactive chronology that covers the core topic moments of his life; a series of five biographical podcasts and eleven short texts written by authors of different nationalities, which deal with various aspects of St. Josemaría's message: among others, vocation, interior freedom, love for the Church, the value of friendship and the dignity of work.
