Together with another scientist Roberto Díez-Martínez and Rubén Díez Punzano, director financier, Iranzu Lamberto (Biology and Biochemistry 07) has launched The ZebraFish Lab, a biotech business that performs various programs of study using the model zebrafish as a biomarker. With this project in hand, the also PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology by the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra insists that in the world of science one should never lose neither the passion for learning, nor the permanent curiosity.

- What has your training contributed to your current professional project ?
Thanks to the knowledge we have been acquiring -both at the University, studying our programs of study, and during the thesis doctoral and subsequent postdoc-, we have been able to fulfill our dream of designing and developing a project in the area of research and development.

- If you had to highlight one attitude of the enterprising scientist, what would it be?
In the world of science it is essential to have a permanent habit of study and a boundless curiosity. It is not possible to be at agenda in research if you are not continuously educated. Even if over the years you gain experience in some areas, you can never say 100% that you have mastered it: a new breakthrough can always emerge in a corner of some laboratory anywhere in the world. It's an exciting field, although it can leave you exhausted. But don't get discouraged. Quite the contrary: it should be a weapon to keep going, and contribute in one way or another to the improvement of the welfare of society.

- How did the idea of The ZebraFish Lab come about?
With the experience accumulated in our doctoral thesis , we decided to go a step further. Thus we created The ZebraFish Lab, a project made from the illusion and the desire to contribute our bit to society through new tools that serve as financial aid in the area of the research scientific . TZL is a biotechnology business that performs various programs of study using the model zebrafish as a biomarker. We offer services in the biomedical area and environmental area . For us, working with this subject of model experimental animal highlights our commitment to ethical standards and integrity, and the demand to seek alternatives to the well-known murine (mouse) models.

- What is your outlook for the future?
In our business we carry out an exhaustive search for new innovative applications of this model animal, in order to be able to give answers to the demands of the environment. We seek to become a worldwide reference letter within our service.
