The University obtains 3.8 million euros of funding in the call for strategic projects in research and development of the Government of Navarre.
The academic center coordinates two research projects and participates in the development of six others in the field of personalized medicine and advanced therapies, sustainable nutrition and digital innovation and biotechnology.

Therapies related to cancer in the respiratory tract and cardiovascular disease, the treatment of brain damage in stroke patients through AI, the generation of healthy foods from legumes produced in Navarra, the study of energy efficiency with digital twins or the analysis and monitoring of healthy aging in the region are some of the research areas in which the University of Navarra participates, within the call for strategic research and development projects of the Government of Navarra for the period between 2025 and 2028.
In total, the University of Navarra has received 3.8 million euros in funding to carry out, together with other institutions and companies, 8 projects in four different areas: personalized medicine and advanced therapies; healthy and sustainable food; research in digital innovation; and development of innovative solutions in biotechnology. The total funding Issue of this call amounts to 15.1 million euros.
This funding is in line with the University of Navarra's Strategy 25-30, which places the University's research and development research as one of its pillars to generate knowledge with impact and contribute value to society. The projects promoted strengthen priority areas such as health and care, sustainable nutrition, digital innovation and biotechnology. This strategic coherence reinforces its commitment to the scientific and technological development of Navarra and the response to the main social and economic challenges of the region.

The University of Navarra coordinates the Iratiproject , led by Dr. Arantxa González Miqueo, researcher of the Cima and professor at the School of Medicine; and Naiara, led by Dr. Rafael Martínez Monge, scientific director of the department of Radiation Oncology of the Cancer Center Clínica Universidad de Navarra The Naiaraproject studies the development of advanced immunoradiotherapy, while Irati's researchers analyze the inflammatory interactions between cancer in the respiratory tract and cardiovascular disease.
The academic center also participates in the Vysium Healthproject , which purpose to develop a multisensory device for the detection and subsequent personalized treatment of brain damage in stroke patients using mixed reality and AI. Professor and researcher Miguel Valencia is the director of this project from Cima.
The three projects involve researchers from the Cima and the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
Two other programs of study included in the call for proposals involve researchers from the research center in Nutrition of the University of Navarra. Nutracaps investigates nanoencapsulated bioactive compounds for healthy nutrition. It is directed by Carlos J. González Navarro. And the Legunovaproject has as its goal the integral use of legumes produced in Navarra to obtain safe, healthy and sustainable food. Fermín Milagro is the coordinator of this project at the University of Navarra.
In addition, the Aibuild+ project studies the intelligent analysis and management of energy efficiency and comfort in buildings using AI and digital twins. The research is led by Mabel Morales, a researcher at the data Science and Artificial Intelligence Institute DATAI, in partnership with Carlos Naya, director of the School of Architecture. The Bioancientproject , with Dr. Marta Montes as principal investigator at the University, aims to monitor the elderly population and the nanobiotechnological development associated with healthy aging in Navarra; and finally, Enzineto V, led by the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition researcher Ana Gloria Gil Royo, studies the infections that patients acquire in hospitals after admission.

The funded projects are aligned with the 25/30 Strategy of the University, which places research as one of its pillars to add value to society and contribute to the progress of Navarra from science and commitment to people," said the Vice President for research and Sustainability, Paloma Grau.
