With the goal goal of bringing the world of finance and wealth management staff into the School’s classrooms, a group of students from Tecnun has launched the Tecnun Investment Club. The initiative, born out of the curiosity of students Juan Francisco Carrizo and Julio Vega, aims to provide a hands-on learning environment where any student can develop financial acumen and gain firsthand insight into how markets operate.

“At Tecnun, we receive a very comprehensive technical training , and we believe this club is an opportunity to learn about investing or how to manage our own money,” explains Carrizo, the club’s co-founder. The organizing “ committee ” consists of Carrizo, Vega, Carlos Lucas Caballero, Íñigo Zubieta, and Andrés Vaca-Pereira.

The second session featured Leire Mancisidor, who explained to attendees how a technically-based training , such as engineering, opens the door to a wide variety of careers in the financial world. Mancisidor reviewed her career path staff and advised students to “let their curiosity to learn guide them and not close the door on professional opportunities, even if they weren’t part of their initial plan.”

During the “ discussion paper,” he also explained what private equity (investment in companies that are not publicly traded) is and how it works. Rather than simply buying shares, this subject of investors injects capital directly into private companies to help them grow, modernize, or professionalize their management.
