Let us stop, reflect and progress

I recently read to Robert Skidelski that last May the president of Ireland told economics students at the University of Chicago that they were studying a distorted discipline . Deformed because it had been disconnected from its ethical and philosophical roots. He explained how the recent turmoil has exposed the inadequacy of the intellectual tools of the mainstream discipline about the sustainability and self-regulation of markets. I wonder if the "turbulence" revealed by the report of the Senate Intelligence committee does not also expose the congenital incapacity of the tools that we in the government / int. relations areas employ to build a better world. Certainly, the framework built by the concepts of governance, leaderhsip or empowerment has not withstood even a single attack to the proposal embraced by the CIA, which was already enclosed in the answer of the Athenians to the Melians: "the strong do what they can and the weak suffer as much as they must". Probably because it is not built for it. We must get back on track. Less superficiality and solubility, more reflection and commitment; less hollow shells - where is the dignity of the person in the globalization concept - and more search for truth. Only in this way will we contribute to making up for the shortcomings referred to by President Higgins, only in this way will we move forward.
