More than 200 new students start their programs of study in the School of Sciences.

This morning, the Welcome workshop for the first year students has started, in which they have appealed to the responsibility and solidarity in the face of status of the COVID-19.

More than 200 students attended this morning the Welcomeworkshop of the School of Sciences, an event that kicks off the new academic year 2020-2021. The quotation started at 11 a.m. and was held simultaneously at auditorium of the Science Library and classroom 17 of the Expansion building Library Services.

The first speech was given by Luis Montuenga, Dean of the School, who welcomed the students "this is your home" and conveyed the idea that School has the goal to train professionals with a spirit of service to society. "You are the protagonists and we are going to help you to be passionate about science and to be good professionals, very passionate and of a high level". 

The Dean also appealed to responsibility, commitment and solidarity in the face of the new scenario caused by Covid-19, and pointed out that this new status will allow us to mature faster. "It is a special, unique and atypical year but we have made every effort to be well prepared and ensure that the training you are going to receive at the classroom and laboratories will be the best possible."

On the other hand, Ana Rouzaut, Vice-Dean of Students, spoke to the attendees about adaptation in the learning process and stressed the importance of individual behavior for the development of the course. "As good university students, you have especially the responsibility to put all the necessary means not to put yourselves at risk, both on the School and outside. In this way you will show your respect and solidarity with the entire community." Rouzaut told the students order "flexibility" in adapting to situations that may arise in the future and urged the students to take advantage of these situations to "learn science".

The University of Navarra has made significant investments to make campus a safe place to study. In addition to the signage in the buildings and the capacity control in the different spaces, classrooms and laboratories have been fitted out to maintain a quality teaching . "At the School of Sciences we have everything planned for the start of the academic year to begin with total normality. The University has made an effort in recent months so that the classrooms, laboratories, Library Services and other common spaces are ready for the new status. Now it is up to each of us to do our best," adds Rouzaut.

In this welcoming workshop , the first year coordinators -JoséRamón Isasi, Esther Lasheras and Arantxa Zornoza-also spoke about the structure of curriculum and also gave some practical recommendations to start the course.
