Ruth Gutiérrez: "Diversity, freedom and pluralism are fundamental in university life".

The session by Ruth Gutiérrez and the subsequent colloquium with Erin Wingerter and Mr. Alex Vaz inspired students, professors, researchers and employees of Tecnun and Ceit. This event was held on Wednesday, October 1st as part of Founder's Week.

On Wednesday, October 1, at 13:30, took place in the auditorium of the Ibaeta building the session and the colloquium of the Founder's WeekThe week in which the University of Navarra recalls some of the milestones in the life of St. Josemaría Escrivá, founder of the University and of Opus Dei.

With an attendance of about 140 people, including students, professors, researchers and employees of Tecnun y Ceitthe event began with a session by Ruth Gutiérrez, professor at the School of Communication, entitled "The University: an ecosystem at the service of all. Exploring diversity from the University". In her speech, she presented the institution as an ecosystem in which some need others to reach the truth, and where the diversity of its members is essential.

Afterwards, Álex Vaz, Tecnun chaplain, and Erin Wingerter, researcher at the Institute for Culture and Society, took the stage. Institute of Culture and Society of the University of Navarra. Together with Ruth Gutiérrez, they engaged in a conversation about the value of dialogue between people with different cultures and ideas.

In this context, the professor and chaplain of the School, also an Alumni of Tecnun, stressed "the importance of knowing how to discuss a variety of topics in a positive and free manner", emphasizing that the university offers an ideal space for contrasting ideas. For her part, Ruth Gutiérrez pointed out that "by correcting each other we are serving science and contributing to reaching the truth together" and pointed out "diversity, freedom and pluralism" as essential aspects of university life.

Erin Wingerter, an American who has lived in Spain for ten years, shared anecdotes and personal moments with the attendees in which she felt surprised and grateful to be surrounded by very different people who acted as family.

At the end, the attendees gathered in the hall of the Ibaeta Building, where they continued to share ideas and experiences on pluralism.
