Professor Iciar Astiasarán Anchía has been appointed director of research center in Nutrition at the University of Navarra, positionpreviously held by Professor Alfredo Martínez. Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology, Icíar Astiasarán has focused her career professorand research, among other aspects, on food quality and safety, functional foods and new formulations of meat derivatives.
At the University of Navarra, Professor Astiasarán has been dean of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition (2004-2011) and Vice President of research (2011-2022), as well as manager of several subjects in the Degrees of Pharmacy and Nutrition, and in the Master's Degree European in Food, Nutrition and Metabolism (EMENU). In addition, she is the author of 169 publications in specialized journals, 16 books and 36 book chapters. She has made 111 contributions to congresses and has directed 26 doctoral thesis .
She is an evaluator for the quality agencies National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation, UNIQUAL (Basque Country) and AGAE (Andalusia), for several scientific journals and for different bodies of assessmentfor research projects.
In 2006 he received the Gold Medal of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa for his scientific career at subjectin Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Safety, as well as the awardJosé María Busca Isasi, awarded by the Basque Academy of Gastronomy. high schoolIn 2011 he received the awardfor the pharmacist with a significant professional career from the Official Pharmacists' Association of Navarre. He is also a member of the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy (RANF) and the Basque Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters (JAKIUNDE).

The research centerin Nutrition, attached to the Schoolof Pharmacy and Nutrition, has among its main objectives the transfer to the food and pharmaceutical industries of the results of its research, in order to improve their productivity and support the developmentof new products. It is currently funded by two programme contracts with the companies CINFA and Viscofan. It has a staff of 43 people, including researchers and technicians, at group. The Centre has been working since the 2013-14 academic year.
The impactful and focusedresearch is one of the axes of Strategy 2025. Likewise, the workdeveloped in the research centerin Nutrition aims to reinforce the strategic line for the care of people, "Health and well-being".
