Pablo Pérez, new scientific co-director of the Institute for Culture and Society

position Pérez is graduate and holds a PhD in History and will assume the position of scientific co-director on September 1, taking over from Ana Marta González.

The President of the University of Navarra, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, has appointed Pablo Pérez as the new scientific co-director of the ICS, the University's in and social sciences. Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), the research center in Humanities and social sciences of the University. He replaces Ana Marta González at position , who will continue her work professor and research at School of Philosophy y Letras and at the head of the project 'Emotional culture and identity' of the ICS.

As of September 1, 2019, Pablo Pérez will be part of the board of the high school together with Jaime García del Barrio (director), Jesús López Fidalgo (academic co-director), Alex Hansen (General Manager) and Álvaro Giráldez (Academic Secretary).

Pablo Pérez is graduate and holds a PhD in History from the University of Valladolid, where he was Full Professor of Contemporary History until 2013, when he joined the University of Navarra. He currently directs the department of History, Art History and Geography and the group of research in Recent History (GIHRE). She is also researcher principal of project 'Profiles of the Political Center (1976-1986): the protagonists', a historical study on the time of Transition to democracy in Spain, funded by the government of Spain. 

He is a member of the Academic Committee of the Spanish Transition Foundation, of the board directive of the association of Historians of the Present and of the committee scientific of the association of Current History. He has made stays of research as a guest at several universities in Europe and the U.S. He has published ten books and more than a hundred articles in specialized journals and book chapters.

The President thanks the work made by Professor Ana Marta González at the head of the Scientific Direction of the ICS since 2012. During these years she has contributed to promote scientific rigor, the international outreach, the multidisciplinarity and social impact in the center's projects. She has also promoted new lines such as, for example, 'Creativity and Cultural Heritage' and Family.
