25 professionals from companies such as Google, Telefónica and PWC are trained in the first edition of Master's Degree University in Big Data Science

The program is taught in executive format at campus in Madrid and is coordinated by the Science Unit of data at Institute for Culture and Society (ICS).

25 professionals from companies such as Google, Telefónica, Ferrovial, PwC and Hewlett Packard are part of the first graduating class of the Master's Degree University in Big Data Science at the University of Navarra. The program, which has been inaugurated this academic year 2019-2020, is taught in executive format -Fridays and Saturdays- at Campus Madrid and is coordinated by the Science Unit of data of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS).

The opening ceremony was attended by Mercedes Castelló, Director of Communication and External Relations of Campus Madrid; Jesús López Fidalgo, director academic of the program and director of the Science Unit of data of the ICS; and José María González Gullón, executive of development of Master's Degree. 

The students come from careers such as business administration, economics, medicine, sociology and various engineering fields. In addition, 12% come from other countries. According to José María González Gullón, "this diversity, both in terms of academic background and the field of activity of the companies where they work, is very enriching. It allows different perspectivesto be shared and provides opportunities for networking both with colleagues and with academic staff".

Labor market demand

"We want to offer our students a solidtraining , both theoretically and internship, which will open new doors for their professional development ," he recalled. He also emphasized that the labor market demands more and more professionals with knowledge in Big Data and that this official degree scroll aspires "that the best companies find in our future graduates an engine to drive significant projects for their area business, be it technology, finance, health, consultancy service...".

Throughout this course, students will attend sessions offered by experts from different Schools and centers of the University - such as the School of Economics, the School of Engineering TECNUN, the research center Applied Medicine, the School of Sciences, the School of Communication... Also, class professionals from renowned companies and institutions, with years of experience in the subject will give lectures.

The academic plan is divided into four blocks: programming and computing, data analysis, management of projects and work end of Master's Degree. The latter can be done at framework of a business, both those where the students come from and others with which the University has agreements.
