Ana de Miguel offers a review of the two decades of research on truffles at the University of Navarra.

Ana de Miguel, professor of Botany at the University of Navarra, reviewed the 20 years of research on truffles that the review of the 20 years that the School of Sciences has been researching the truffle, during the course of the I International Trufficulture congress being held in Teruel.
The specialist emphasized that the academic center was a pioneer in the study of mycorrhizae and pointed out that when they started, very little was known about topic. "It was gratifying to find truffle mycorrhiza, especially because we had never seen it before," she said.
The research was carried out on holm oak, oak and hazel in which the mycorrhizae of Tuber melanosporum were established. De Miguel explained that the morphological study is fundamental "because it sheds light on the quality of the plant and its behavior, the suitability of the symbiont (tree to which it grows associated and the influence of external activities such as tillage or pruning, among others.
The expert pointed out the importance of keeping a buffer zone between the plantations and the forest land in order to avoid the presence of some of the competitors.
