Violeta Sánchez Sánchez wins the VI Final Project Competition degree program Chair Madera

The award consists of a scholarship to take the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings.

Violeta Sánchez Sánchez has won the VI Final Project Competition of degree program Chair Madera. The international competition , promoted by the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and the Chair Madera, has counted in this edition with the participation of architects from Spain, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and Dominican Republic.

Sanchez, a graduate of the University of Malaga, presented her project called 'Casa del student for the University of Malaga'. It is a piece that connects both edges as a bridge, and through the repetition of a system that organizes both the plant and the section,"executes a homogeneous and friendly overall image in the context," said the jury.

"The use of a system of cross-laminated panels that are understood in the complete development of project and that serve as a structure, carrier and distributor of facilities is valued," they added.

In addition, two runner-up prizes were awarded to the works "[POL]INIZACTION - Expansion and reactivation of the Pols of Ahmedabad", by Mónica Esteban González (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), and 'Recovery of industrial heritage structure', by Daniela Silva (Universidad Austral de Chile).

This activity has as goal to reward the project Fin de degree program (PFC) that best highlights the use of wood and sustainability aspects. The award consists of a scholarship that covers the cost of the enrollment in the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings (MDGAE) taught at the University of Navarra.

The jury, composed of José Manuel Cabrero, director of the Chair Madera; Mario Galiana Liras, professor at School of Architecture of the University of Navarra; and architect Manuel Enríquez, partner of Barcos y Enríquez Arquitectos, took into account the following criteria: the use of wood as the main structural material; the creative and innovative use of wood at design; the appropriate response to basic functional and architectural criteria; architectural coherence; and sustainability and environmental criteria.

The Master's Degree in design and management Building Environmental trains experts in sustainability at Building, both in design and in quantifying the efficiency of the measures adopted. It focuses on the management of energy (active and passive measures) and materials, environmental certification, life cycle analysis and new building systems.
