Experts to discuss financial markets and monetary policies in the aftermath of the crisis at the University of Navarra

- Speakers include experts from universities and institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores, the Bank of Spain, Columbia and Princeton Universities, among others.

The University of Navarra will host on June 17 and 18 the congress "What is next? Monetary Policy and Financial Markets after the crisis". The event will bring together experts from different institutions and universities.

The first session, given by Professor Harold James of Princeton University, will deal with "Financial Crisis and its aftermath, a Historical Perspective". Later, Bryan Routdledge of Carnegie Mellon University and Carlos Vergara, professor at IESE Business School, will address the session. Antonio Moreno of the University of Navarra and Refet Gürkaynak of Bilkent University will then speak on "Term structure-finance."

Finally, it will be the turn of Javier Andrés of the University of Valencia and Eva Ortega of the Bank of Spain with "Banking and monetary policy"; and Laura Valderrama of the IMF with Banking and Liquidity Risk. Finally, there will be a roundtable with the participation of Financial Times journalist Edward Hadas; Francisco Rivera-Batiz, from Columbia University; Domingo Cavallo, former Minister of Economics of Argentina; and Luis Ravina, professor at the University of Navarra.

The following day, the congress will begin with the discussion paper "Monetary Policy and Financial Stability" and will continue with a roundtable on "Macro-Prudential Banking Regulation" with the participation of Fernando Perez de Gracia of the University of Navarra; Gerard Caprio of Williams College; Vicente Salas of the Bank of Spain; and Erlend Nier of the International Monetary Fund. Guillermo Calvo from Columbia University will close the event with "The After-Crisis in Emerging Markets".
