The Community of Madrid has distinguished with the XXI award of Culture in the category of Classical Music to Albert Recasens, director of La Grande Chapelle and researcher of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra. With this award, the jury has highlighted "the contribution that Recasens carries out in the diffusion and knowledge of the musical historical heritage".
Doctor in musicology, in 2007, Recasens began his career as director of the ensemble La Grande Chapelle and the record label Lauda, through which he makes known unpublished works of the great Spanish masters of the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries. Since 2019 he combines his artistic work with research at the ICS, where he currently co-directs the project "internship interpretative in the Hispanic cathedrals (1563-1833)", which is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
The Culture Awards of the Community of Madrid recognize the career and work of intellectuals and artists whose work has had a significant impact on the socio-cultural reality of the region. The awards, which have thirteen categories, are honorary and are given through the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports. Among the winners of the XXI edition are the actress Concha Velasco (Film and Audiovisual Arts), Andrés Trapiello (Literature), José Luis Alonso de Santos (Theater) or Ana Locking (Fashion).
