From the MUN, to the plate. Art that can be 'tasted'.

Some thirty chefs from Navarra enjoyed a visit to the MUN Collection yesterday to get inspiration for their creations for the upcoming Pincho Week of Navarra. The University Museum of Navarra, and the association of Hospitality and Tourism of Navarra held an event around the art and cuisine of the region, which attracted about 500 students.

The connection with tradition, the taste for beauty or the search for an experience are some of the elements that connect art and cuisine. This was demonstrated yesterday at the MUN, which organized a visit to the rooms of its permanent collection for more than thirty chefs, in collaboration with the Hotel and Tourismassociation of Navarre. The purpose is to give them to know the works of art from an approach that serves them of inspiration, so that their creations for the next Week of the Pincho of Navarre combine gastronomy and art. In the words of the General Manager of the association, Nacho Calvo, an opportunity to "discover new artistic views".

Afterwards, chefs from Snob Cocktails & Food, La Escalerica Centro, El Bosquecillo and Akari Gastroteka took the stage of the MUN Theater to offer showcookings of the proposals that earned them finalist positions in the XXV Semana del Pincho de Navarra. They did so during the event "Taste Navarra, taste the MUN!", in which they performed in front of almost 500 university students from different communities, and also from other countries. There was also a special accredited specialization for La model Craft Beer & Food which, although it could not be present, received from the Museum the accredited specialization for the most artistic pincho in the last Pincho Week.

"It has been very exciting to cook in such a unique space as the MUN, surrounded by art and in a format that has allowed us to share our creativity with the public. The pincho I prepared was a tribute to local produce and the richness of our land. It combines gastronomic tradition with the wild spirit of Navarra and shows how cooking can also be a form of artistic expression. The combination of the visit to the Museum and the showcooking has been a great experience, which has given us inspiration to continue cooking", says Goiza Isiegas, chef of Akari Gastroteka. Nacho Calvo agrees with him, pointing out that "this event has enriched the hospitality industry in Navarre by fusing culture and gastronomy, and at the same time, it has brought together dozens of professionals at the MUN to enjoy a truly inspiring experience".

During the meeting, the students were also able to learn about everything that awaits them at the MUN. The Museo en Danza series includes shows such as the large-format work with live music Noces a MUN co-production with the Navarre-based Led Silhouette and the Pamplona Chamber Choir (October 31), or the presence of urban dance and robotics with Famulus 4.0.by Iron Skulls (November 11). The possibility of visiting exhibitions signed by young curators (graduates of the Master's Degree in curatorial programs of study the MUN) such as Dear viewer, what are you looking at?free of charge, as well as the rest of the exhibitions throughout 2025 thanks to entrance support of the Pamplona City Council. Or the opportunity to be a member of the Orchestra or the Choir of the University of Navarra, to unravel the secrets of opera with proposals such as "Asómate a la ópera. La Traviata explained" (October 1), or participate in workshops on musicals, theater or drawing.

"We want you to feel the MUN as yours, as your home," concluded the artistic director, Teresa Lasheras.
