The Society of Contemporary Artisans SACo was presented on May 8 at ISEM Fashion Business School in an event attended by more than 40 experts and stakeholders in the sector. The association was born with the idea of giving visibility to all the artisan hands that create quality products, contemporary and Spanish. SACo starts with 10 members and plans to welcome one hundred more firms in the coming year. In addition, among its objectives, also highlights the intention to create quality certificates with different levels and a committee of experts.
Tachy Mora, journalist specializing in design, served as master of ceremonies and stressed that what characterizes SACo partners is their commitment to "an evolution of the traditional" within the craft sector, "thus connecting with today's society. In this sense, he pointed out that it is a craft focused on change and innovation: "There are different ways to innovate through creativity, the research and the development of new techniques and materials".
10 initial members
Among the top 10 partners, there are cosmopolitan artisans, dedicated to very different products and with a strong presence in social networks. You can find firms that work with custom-made furniture, such as Bois et Fer, or that design and produce wooden objects and furniture independently, such as Siete Formas. Also noteworthy is the staff way of working of Henar Iglesias, an artisan in feather art who makes headdresses, belts and bow ties with natural bird feathers, and her mother Charo Iglesias, with more than 40 years of experience in the production of hats.
Vajillas de Ultramar works ceramics through handmade and hand-painted tableware with slight imperfections that make them unique. Fernando Alcalde also unites tradition and design in his handcrafted vases and tableware with simple lines. In a completely different field is signature Mille Feuille, dedicated to the handmade production of personalized photographic books, and official document Studio, a workshop of bags from design made with vegetable tanned leather.
This group of artisan pioneers is closed by Mayice Studio, an artisan business dedicated to design of product and architecture, and Abbatte, signature creator of textile objects with natural yarns.
