More than 250 participants in a palliative medicine congress in El Salvador, co-organized by the ICS ATLANTES Program.

The program addressed complex clinical situations that arise in advanced disease.

More than 250 people participated in the congress 'Palliative Medicine in 4D: Delirium, Dyspnea, Pain and Ethical Dilemmas at the end of life', which took place in El Salvador on April 11-12, 2016. The activity was organized by the School of Health Sciences of the Dr. José Matías Delgado University; the ATLANTES Program of the Institute for Culture and Society and the association of Bioethics of El Salvador.

The course addressed complex clinical situations related to difficult symptoms in advanced disease. It was aimed at specialist physicians, family and general practitioners, residents, medical students, staff nurses and psychologists.

The speakers were Carlos Centeno Cortés, researcher principal of the ATLANTES Program, professor of Palliative Medicine at the University of Navarra and director of department of Palliative Medicine at the University of Navarra. Clínica Universidad de Navarra Mario López Saca, internist and specialist in Palliative Care at the Zacamil National Hospital and head of Chair of Palliative Medicine at the University Dr. José Matías Delgado; Carlos Reyes Reyes, professor of Palliative Medicine at the University Dr. José Matías Delgado University; Carlos Reyes Silva, hemato-oncologist and specialist in Palliative Care at Hospital Nacional Rosales and high school Salvadoreño del Seguro Social, and director of Hospital Divina Providencia; Rolando Larin Lovo, allergist and specialist in Palliative Care and head of the Pain and Palliative Care Unit at Hospital Benjamín Bloom; and Marvin Colorado, specialist in Palliative Care and Deputy Director of Education and research of Hospital Divina Providencia.
