Eight young researchers and students from the two universities of the region, the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) and the University of Navarra (UNAV), will star next Friday, May 24, in a show of short science talks, called "PreNaukas Universidad". The meeting, of an informative nature and for all audiences, will be held at the Planetarium of Pamplona, at 19.30 hours, with free entrance . Among the speakers, Iñaki Echeverría Huarte, student of doctorate of Physics and Applied Mathematics of the University of Navarra and winner last week of the final of the seventh edition of FameLab Spain, an international contest of scientific monologues organized in our country by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the British Council, with the partnership of the Obra Social 'la Caixa'.

This activity will serve as a prologue to "Naukas Pamplona: other worlds", a workshop dedicated to science as a show, which will take place on Saturday, the 25th, at the Baluarte Conference Center and Auditorium in the capital of Navarre. This last event brings together short talks, always from an informative point of view, with skepticism and humor, interspersed with music, magic and poetry. This event is funded by the Government of Navarra and partnership of the UPNA, the Science Museum of the University of Navarra, the Planetarium of Pamplona and project Planeta STEM. The entrance is free until fill in seating capacity. The program is available for your enquiry on the Nukas website.

Talks by young researchers

Regarding "PreNaukas Universidad", each of the two universities contributes with four researchers and students. Specifically, the UPNA will bring Alberto Berrueta Irigoyen, Leyre Catalán Ros, Laura de Miguel Turullols and Aránzazu Jurío Munárriz (all of them researchers of high school Smart Cities-ISC); and the University of Navarra, Amaia Antón Alcalde, student of Degree in Biology; Pedro Soler Lloréns, PhD in Microbiology; Ángela Vivo Luján, student of Degree in Medicine, and Iñaki Echeverría.

Alberto Berrueta, PhD in Industrial Engineering from the UPNA, has graduate his talk "Con las pilas cargadas", in which he will describe the latest advances in the field of batteries, storage systems necessary for renewable energies. Leyre Catalán , PhD student at the UPNA in the program of Communications Technologies, Bioengineering and Renewable Energies, will discover the possibilities of a clean energy subject , geothermal energy, which takes advantage of the high temperatures of the subsoil of the Canary volcanic island of Lanzarote to generate electricity, in his monologue "Geothermal energy: are we cooking or generating electricity?

The exhibition of Laura de Miguel, PhD in Mathematics from the UPNA, is entitled "Three messages in one", in which she will explain the uses of steganography, a branch of cryptography that allows, for example, to hide a message in a digital image. In addition, Aránzazu Jurío, PhD in Computer Engineering from the UPNA, will talk about women whose advances in science and technology have not been sufficiently recognized, in an intervention called "Women Scientists".

In the case of the University of Navarra, Amaia Antón will take a journey to discover the relationship between love, the nervous system and the endocrine system in her intervention "Neuronas enamoradas"(Neurons in love). For his part, Iñaki Echeverría will repeat the monologue with which he won the FameLab contest, the graduate "Let me out", about how obstacles influence the movements of humans and animals in emergency situations.

In the case of Pedro Soler, his monologue, entitled "African Swine Fever: viral pandemic in the animal world", will deal with a disease that is doubly viral in the swine sector, because everyone is talking about it and, in addition, it is viral. degree scroll As for Ángela Vivo, her talk, entitled "Así se parecen la medicina y la música"(This is how medicine and music are alike), will analyze, from the point of view of Human Physiology, why we should listen to that music teacher who said: "You have to breathe with your stomach".

The three promoters of "PreNaukas Universidad" will act as masters of ceremonies: Javier Armentia Fructuoso, coordinator of the Pamplona Planetarium; Ignacio López-Goñi, director of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra; and Joaquín Sevilla Moróder, manager of the Chair of knowledge dissemination of knowledge and Scientific Culture of the UPNA.
