On Tuesday, May 20, IESE Madrid hosted "Fashion in discussion: Perspectives for a Sector in Transformation," the industry meeting dedicated to the fashion industry, organized by Alumni University of Navarra in partnership with ISEM and IESE. The event brought together more than 150 industry professionals in a quotation that combined reflection, leadership and networking.
Sectoral Alumni meetings are events designed to put professionals from the same sector in contact with each other, make networking, share good working practices and discover business opportunities.
The session began with a three-way conversation: Jaume Miquel (Chairman & CEO of Tendam), Teresa Sádaba (Dean of ISEM) and Philip Moscoso (Associate Dean of IESE). Together they addressed the main challenges and transformations facing the fashion industry today, from digitalization and artificial intelligence to the cultural evolution of the consumer and the impacts of international geopolitics, such as the tariffs pushed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
During the talk, illustrator Ángel López de Luzuriaga made a live drawing projected on a large screen that visually synthesized the core topic ideas that were being shared. The result was an image full of symbolism that included representations of the speakers, the flag of the European Union, elements of technological innovation and references to the global political context, all in relation to the fashion sector.
In the second part of the event, attendees moved to the campus garden to enjoy a networking cocktail. Previously, each participant had selected the thematic area that most interested them: degree program development ; design and creativity; digital fashion and technology; business and entrepreneurship.
In each of them the conversation was moderated by a pair of ISEM alumni, which allowed for a more fluid and valuable conversation among participants, facilitating relevant and productive connections. This sectorial meeting not only allowed us to listen to influential industry leaders, but also to continue consolidating a community of professionals committed to the future of the fashion industry.
