Nicolet Yordanoba, a 2nd year student of the IES Padre Moret-Irubide, has won the regional phase of the high school diploma of IES Padre Moret-Irubide, has been the winner of the regional phase of the Biology Olympiad. In the test, held at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra last Saturday, February 11, 60 students from 17 schools in the region participated.
The second best result was for Javier González Moreno, from high school Santa Teresa de Jesús de Pamplona, and the third place went to Ana González Sucunza, student of high school San Ignacio-Jesuitas de Pamplona.
Also, students Uxue García Blasco (IES Sancho III El Mayor de Tafalla), Mikel Jiménez (IES place de la Cruz), Miriam Elizalde Curiel (Santa Teresa de Jesús), Ane Irigoyen Ibáñez (Ikastola Paz de Ziganda) received special mentions for their good participation, Itxaso Morán Rubio (Santa María la Real-Maristas), Javier place Balmont (San Cernin), Leyre Álvarez Lizarbe (Liceo Monjardín), Leyre Cía Mina (Padres Reparadores de Puente la Reina) and Martina Sagredo Gil (Santa Teresa de Jesús).
The submission awards ceremony was held on Thursday, March 23 and was attended by representatives of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra and the high school Official Biologists of Navarra.
The schools and institutes participating in this regional phase were San Ignacio-Jesuitas de Pamplona, Luis Amigó, IES Navarro Villoslada, Santa Teresa de Jesús, IES Padre Moret-Irubide, IES Ribera del Arga, Ikastola Paz de Ziganda, IES Sancho III El Mayor, Irabia-Izaga, Santo Tomás-Dominicas, Liceo Monjardín, Calasanz-Escolapios, Padres Reparadores de Puente la Reina, Santa María la Real-Maristas, Jesuitinas, IES place de la Cruz, Nuestra Señora del Huerto, Sagrado Corazón and San Cernin.
The first three classified in this regional phase will participate from 23 to 26 March in the national phase of the Biology Olympiad organized by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The students who obtain the four best positions in the national test will opt for the international test , which this year will take place in the United Arab Emirates from July 3 to 11.
On the other hand, those who place 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th in the national phase will be able to compete in the Iberoamerican Biology Olympiad to be held at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid from September 3 to 9.
