Deans from all over Spain will meet quotation in Pamplona on 24 and 25 May for the Assembly of the lecture National Assembly of Deans of Pharmacy Schools of Spain. The University of Navarra is the host of a meeting that will focus on the training of Spanish pharmacists, as well as on the study, reflection and analysis of the problems affecting the field of Pharmacy in Spain.

"In recent years, the pharmaceutical Education has evolved considerably towards a more patient-oriented profession, with greater emphasis on problem-based teaching ," explains the dean of the School Pharmacy and Nutrition of the University of Navarra, María Javier Ramírez. "For this reason, one of the core topic points of this meeting will be a session of work to elaborate a document at national level on the implementation of the ECOE (assessment Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation) as an evaluative tool ".

In this regard, the dean points out that the ECOE, due to its reliability and validity, has become the standard test for ascertaining the clinical skills of university pharmacy students around the world. "Four years ago our School opted for this methodology to assess students and, thanks to the experience accumulated, we think it would be very positive to incorporate it in a general way in our country".

An on-site experience

This national meeting also coincides with the busiest week at School, when the ECOES of the Degrees Pharmacy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics courses take place. Thus, the members of the group of work of all the Schools will attend in person the assessment tests of the students and will check first-hand the development of the different stations. 

"We think it can be an enriching experience that complements the previous session of work , and serves to extract keys from management and methodologies in order to standardise this system of assessment at national level".
