1,114 productions participate in the II edition of #LabMeCrazy! Science Film Festival

1,114 productions from 92 countries have been submitted to the II edition of #LabMeCrazy! Science Film Festival, competition international scientific film festival organized by the Science Museum of the University of Navarra. Among the participants we find productions from countries on five continents, such as the United States, Argentina, Brazil, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Nigeria, Kenya, Russia, Iran, Indonesia, China, New Zealand and India. The countries with the most productions are Iran (175), India (103) and the United States (97). Spain presented more than 70 productions.

Some of the Science topics addressed by the participants in their films range from COVID-19, traditional medicine, nutrition and biomedical research to topics related to Climate Change, geology, zoology, astronomy, physics, engineering, artificial intelligence or history of Science.

"Despite the circumstances of recent months, participation has been very high and of great quality. We are very pleased because the scientific works presented are of international level and the subject matter is varied, which positions us as a festival for all audiences," says Bienvenido León, director of the festival.

The finalists will be announced in early September and the official jury will determine the winners in each category of the festival: documentary or reportage; television program; video for the web or social networks; student production; and work produced or co-produced by a university.

This multidisciplinary jury multidisciplinary consist ofNoemí de Cabo, Head of Non-Fiction Program Acquisitions at TVE;Francisco Javier Novo, professor and researcher the School of Science at the University of Navarra;Manuel Toharia, director communicator and director of the City of Arts and Sciences;Leonor Solís, a doctorate student doctorate the University of Navarra and a researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico; andMatt Senior, director MS Productions (United Kingdom).

The II edition of this international scientific film festival competition will be held from February 1 to 4, 2021 at the Museum of the University of Navarra and will include a program of parallel scientific activities. "We want the Navarra society to participate in the scientific activities we do in the community and this festival is a good opportunity to do so. Last year the screenings were full and many people attended the activities that were organized around the festival," says Ignacio López-Goñi, director of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra.

Science Film Festival is an international science film festival competition , promoted by the Science Museum of the University of Navarra -with the partnership of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) / Ministry of Science and Innovation and Laboral Kutxa-, which has as goal bring science to new generations with a current look of the scientific knowledge .
