"In the training of the students of Master's Degree the practical component has a core value, so we consider it essential that all of them have the opportunity to have a professional experience while studying any of our programmes," explains Sonia Zapata, coordinator of the Master's Degree programmes of the School Pharmacy and Nutrition.

With this purpose, for some time now, the School has maintained a close relationship with companies in the pharmaceutical sector contact where students can carry out paid internships or complete their work Final Project Master's Degree (TFM) in a professional environment. "Specifically, during the 2021/2022 academic year, 147 offers have been received so that our students can choose the options that best suit their interests," he explains.

Thus, in the case of the Master's Degree in research, development and Medicines Innovation (MIDI), students will carry out their TFM between the months of June and December, a real project of research that they will carry out in the areas of research and development, clinical trials, pharmacovigilance, regulatory affairs or management of the research in the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) or in companies such as Almirall, Ardena (Idifarma), 3P Biopharmaceuticals, BBD-Biophenix, CIBIR, Clínica Universidad de Navarra, Geiserpharma, ICON plc, Laboratoriun Sanitatis, Lainomedical, Pharmamar, Qualitec Pharma, Vivebiotec, Queens University (in Northern Ireland) and Hoffmann-La Roche (in Switzerland). "During this time, student is an active part of the team and works with the scientific and quality criteria required in the department in which it is incorporated. In addition, he has at his disposal a tutor staff guide to help him with whatever he needs".

For their part, the students of the Master's Degree in design Galenic and Manufacturing in the Pharmaceutical Industry (MDGFI) carry out twelve months of paid internships at Departments in quality control, quality assurance, development galenic or manufacturing. "These internships complete the training that they have received for a year in the classroom and in the rotations in the pilot plant for the manufacture of medicines that we have at the University". He also stresses that immersion in companies such as Cinfa, Faes, GSK, Viralgen, Pharmaloop, 3P Biopharmaceuticals, Lilly, Casen or Rovi, among others, sometimes favours students receiving offers from work before they even finish their training.

"Something similar happens in the Master's Degree in management of Pharma-Biotech Companies (MUGEPB), which is taken at Campus of the University of Navarra in Madrid," explains Sonia Zapata. "The students carry out a minimum of nine months of professional internships in areas of management in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and health technology industries and, in some cases, they are hired by the companies themselves, which value the training received and their potential". The companies that have offered internships during the 2021/2022 academic year are: Sprim, Organon, Abbvie, Advantal Pharma, Alacrita, Antares Consulting, Ascendo Consulting, Axis Pharma, Bioinnova Consulting, Cantabria Labs, Trifermed, Cinfa, GSK, Janssen, Normon, Lilly, Theramex, Angelini Pharma, Novartis, Viralgen and Boston Scientific.
